Acquisition streamlines print supply chain for publishers and provides Lakeside with the most comprehensive product portfolio available in the book manufacturing industry

WARRENVILLE, Ill., April 13, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Lakeside Book Company (“Edge of the lake“) today announced that it has completed the acquisition of Phoenix Color Corp. (“Phoenix“) of ALJ Regional Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: ALJJ) (“ALJ”). Phoenix is a specialist printer of book components, children’s books and other print-related products with printing facilities in Indiana and Maryland. In addition to making books, Edge of the lake provides distribution, sales and marketing services, as well as intellectual property and brand protection technologies to book publishers. With this acquisition, Edge of the lake customers will have access to the broadest portfolio of products, services and solutions available in the industry.

Phoenix will operate as a division of Lakeside Book Company. Dave McCree, On the edge of the lake Chief Executive Officer, will lead the combined business. Marc Rischformer executive chairman of Phoenix, will support the company through the integration and will remain with ALJ. President Phoenix Jean Carbone retires from the company as Phoenix begins this new era as a division of Edge of the lake.
