Lick Paint launches in the US to elevate moods through color

Here’s a confession: I’ve been avoiding painting my living room for years. Even with new furniture or decorative accents, I convinced myself that my not-so-chic wall color (something made me accept the light peach paint) could be fixed with low-lift upgrades. I bought huge fine art prints and even created a gallery wall to hide the color. The warm hue made my space feel cluttered and frankly outdated, even after remodeling the room and buying new furniture. So when Tash Bradley, Lick‘s Head of Interior Design, contacted me to offer me a color consultation, I jumped at the chance.

Lick offers a carefully curated collection of high-quality paints and wallpapers to suit every personality, not to mention endless inspiration, community and extensive consultation on how to paint your home a color that matches your style. your style and is not an eyesore. to your guests.

The British brand gained popularity when it launched during the pandemic. With everyone stuck inside, all you could do was watch the paint dry. It’s no surprise, then, that many people have been inspired to update their home’s color scheme. Luckily, Lick has since made its way to the US, so my living room makeover can officially happen!

“Decoration can be very intimidating,” admits Bradley, a trained psychologist (who happens to be married to the brand’s co-founder Sam Bradley). “Our main goal is to make decorating very enjoyable, accessible and easy. We help you along the way. I want our decorators to feel thrilled to be able to transform their home into a home they love.”

Bradley’s specialization in color psychology is central to the brand’s mission: to help you understand how colors affect a place. “It’s not just about saying, ‘Pick that white paint. You have to look at the color of your sofa and your plants, and take into account your lifestyle to create a culmination of colors to diffuse in your interior,” she explains.

To start the process, Tash and I hopped on a 30-minute FaceTime call to tour my home and help her better understand my personality and design goals. I felt really comfortable talking to him about my paint problems and how much I disliked the peach color of my living room walls. “Warm tones make a room feel more intimate and cozy, bringing everything in. If you choose a cooler color, it will make the space feel lighter and airier,” she advised.

After seeing my navy sofa and vintage bohemian rug, Bradley knew the stuffy walls didn’t match the welcoming vibe I wanted the space to give off. Suddenly her eyes lit up and she exclaimed, “I want you to show me where the light comes in through your window. As I sat down on the couch to show her how the sunlight was streaming into the room, she smiled and said, “I know what to do!”

Introducing Tash Bradley.

Tash Bradley

Tash has put together a visual list of recommendations featuring carefully selected shades from Lick’s spectrum of 124 paint colors. I looked forward to the presentation, excited to see the possibilities for my living room. He not only provided six color suggestions, but also the amount of paint I would need. (One Lick color can’t be confused with another – “There’s no shade lighter or darker,” says Bradley – which prevents color paralysis, where “you want a blue color and face to 1,000 variations instead,” she notes.)

I asked friends and family to help me choose the best color palette for my space, and as soon as I decided on a color palette, Lick sent me a complete paint kit, complete with a step by step guide and all the tools. and the accessories I would need, from bamboo-handled brushes and recycled rollers to sugar cane pulp trays and biodegradable dust sheets. As a bonus, Tash even included a palette for my kitchen!

“What you never want to do is make a room feel disjointed from other rooms in the house,” she asserts. “You want to get a nice flow to create harmony.”
