Navratri is one of the most auspicious festivals for Hindus and it is celebrated across the nation with great pomp. This nine-day festival is observed twice a year, in spring and autumn. On Sharad Navratri, devotees worship the nine incarnations of Goddess Durga, known as Navdurga.

Well, this year on the fourth day of Navratri, devotees worship Maa Kushmanda.

She is the fourth avatar of Goddess Durga and is credited with creating the entire universe with her smile. Interestingly, its name refers to – Ku meaning small, ushma meaning heat and anda meaning cosmic egg. She is also known as ashtabhuja devi as she has eight hands.

According to the Drik Panchang, the Chaturthi Tithi will start at 1:27 a.m. on September 29 and end at 00:08 a.m. on September 30. Brahma Muhutra will start at 4:37 a.m. and last until 5:25 a.m. on September 29. The Abhijit Muhurta will start from 11:47 a.m. to 12:35 a.m.

Devotees believe that Maa Kushmanda loves red flowers, which is why they are offered to the goddess. Shringaar samagri such as sindoor, kajal, bracelets, bindi, toe ring, comb, mirror, anklets are also offered. A special bhog consisting of malpua, halwa and curd is prepared for Maa Kushmanda.

On the fourth day of Navratri famous Maa Kushmanda is worshiped with red colored flowers. Maa Kushmanda is believed to rule the Sun God as she provides him with energy and direction.

Maa Kushmanda is also believed to live inside the sun as her radiance and radiance are as bright and luminous as that of the sun. On the fourth day, devotees offer their puja to Maa Kushmanda to seek her blessings for their family. The goddess bestows wealth, health and strength on her devotees.
