Polestar hasn’t really gotten off to a good start in the color-selection category so far, offering a minimal palette for its otherwise exciting brand-new cars – the Polestar 1 hybrid coupe and Polestar 2 EV sedan – in shades that aren’t too bright. inspiring dull gray, white, blue and black colors. Thankfully, the 2023 Polestar 2 will make some changes to its color lineup, continuing its space theme with new color names like, well, “Space” and “Jupiter.” Unfortunately, one of the colors is just black and the other is kind of a muted clinical beige.
When you think about it, space, the universe, literally contains every color known and unknown to man, so it’s a disappointment that the 2023 color wheel doesn’t add anything unquestionably exciting to the mix of colors. of the brand. Starting from this sticking point, however, and the new shade of black, dubbed “Space”, appears to have some serious metallic flakes, perhaps to give it an astrological quality in the right light.
The Jupiter color is a kind of off-white, apparently replacing the current “Moon” offering which is a little more beige. We’ll have to reserve some judgment until we see it in person, of course, but we’re still disappointed with the overall selection available.
MotorTrend got the renders of the two new colors on the Polestar 2 UK site, but the automaker has confirmed that the two new colors are also coming to North America, with further official updates for the 2023 model year to come. We also learned that Magnesium Gray has replaced the Void Black paint selection previously available as a standard choice included in the base price. For any other colors – the UK site shows Magnesium Grey, Snow White, darker Thunder Grey, Jupiter Beige, Midnight Blue and Space Black – there will be a surcharge. Currently, the fee is $1,200 for a non-standard color in the US with the outbound palette.
Polestar has also confirmed new 19- and 20-inch wheel selections that are said to have improved aerodynamic qualities. The UK site features a new ’19-inch five-twin-spoke black alloy wheel’, a new ’20-inch five-twin-spoke black silver alloy wheel’, as well as the ’20-inch four-spoke wheel’. Y-Spoke Black Polished Forged Alloy Wheel” which is already available. Inside, a new interior color called Zinc is offered with Ventilated Napa leather available with Light Ash trim. The automaker also teased the updated lineup and pricing information will be announced soon for North America, so we’ll keep you posted when more details become available.
